Sanjay Bhatia, MD, FHM, CDIP

Founder & President of Internal Medicine

Dr. Bhatia is dual board certified in Internal Medicine, and Hospice/Palliative Care Medicine. He is also a Fellow of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Bhatia has been in practice since 2005. While maintaining a fulfilling clinical practice, Dr. Bhatia has procured over a decade of experience in healthcare leadership and education. He has held multiple roles from National Medical Director overseeing quality of care delivered to patients across the country to C-Suite physician executive roles. Dr. Bhatia also served as CMO of Prime Healthcare-Lower Bucks Hospital, and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at Lower Bucks Hospital. A few of his current roles include: Chief Medical Director of Statesman Nursing and Rehab, Chief Medical Director Kindred Hospital Philadelphia, Medical Director of Artis Senior Living, Medical director of Holland Center For Rehabilitation and Nursing, as well as Regional Medical Director of Compassus Hospice for the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Dr. Bhatia has received many awards in his career. Most recently in 2017 he was honored as a physician leader by the Bucks County Healthcare Initiative Program and also awarded by the American Health Council an award for “America’s Best Doctors”. Dr. Bhatia has published in medical journals and has been featured as a subject matter expert in various publications including journals and news outlets. In his free time, Dr. Bhatia enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two children.

SVP of Business Development

David Sucharski is a seasoned healthcare professional, currently serving as First Docs’ Senior Vice President of Business Development. With a robust background in business development and operations, David brings over 15 years of experience to his role.

Since joining First Docs in June 2022, David has played a pivotal role in driving the practice’s national expansion of SNFist services while supporting their core markets in PA and NJ. Through his relationships and strategic partnerships with hospital executives and SNF owners and operators, David has advanced First Docs’ mission of delivering high-quality, proactive, and personalized internal medicine care across the healthcare continuum.

Prior to his tenure at First Docs, David held leadership positions at reputable healthcare organizations, including National Health Rehabilitation Physiatry (now Medrina), Mid-Atlantic Healthcare, and Genesis Healthcare. His expertise in skilled nursing business development, sales, and provider relations has been instrumental in shaping his approach on the provider side of healthcare since 2016.

David believes that every interaction presents an opportunity to make a positive impact for our healthcare partners and patients and is committed to ensuring that First Docs patients receive the highest standard of care and patient experience.

Outside of work, David enjoys spends down time with his wife and daughter in Bucks County, PA, and cheering on his favorite Philly sports teams and pursuing various artistic and recreational pursuits.

Vice President of Clinical Operations

Sarah Hatchel, PT, DPT, GCS serves as the Vice President of Clinical Operations for First Docs. She joined in Jan 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in clinical operations and rehabilitation. Sarah plays a pivotal role overseeing the clinical operations department with a focus on streamlining operations and enhancing patient care outcomes. Her strong background in project-based leadership, effective communication, and strategic thinking has been instrumental in supporting First Docs’ national growth strategy.

Prior to joining First Docs, Sarah held progressive leadership roles with regional and national healthcare organizations, including serving as the Senior Director of Clinical Operations at Medrina (formerly National Health Rehabilitation) and a Director of Rehabilitation Services with Broad River Rehab and Choice Health Management Services. Before transitioning into operational leadership, Sarah gained valuable experience as a Physical Therapist. Her dedication to enhancing the quality of life for individuals under her care has been a driving force throughout her career.

Sarah is a certified Geriatric Certified Specialist (GCS) and holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Winston-Salem State University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Sarah enjoys staying active and spending time with her husband, two children, and their dog Grizzly in North Carolina.
